Ireland ended India's 17-match winning streak in T20Is. Ireland won the two-match T20I series 2-0 and India's attempt to avoid a humiliating defeat by levelling the series at the Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast yesterday also failed.
In the first ODI between the two teams held in Belfast on the 26th, Ireland, who batted first, managed to score 182 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Locker Tucker scored 50 runs. Harshit Rana took 3 wickets for 24 runs.
Ireland, in reply, were bowled out for 148 in 18.5 overs.
Abhishek Sharma 50. Matthew Hayden 3 for 28.
Ireland secured a narrow one-run victory in the second T20I in Belfast yesterday. Batting first, Ireland scored 154 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Harry Tector 53. Prince Yadav 3 for 22.
Chasing a target of 155, India could only manage 153 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Tilak Verma 55. Jay Mandara 3 for 32
Speaking to the media after the win, Ireland captain Logan Tucker said the series win was comparable to the 2007 World Cup win over Pakistan and the 2011 World Cup win over England after chasing 328.
“It’s a huge achievement for a team to beat a team that has been world champions twice in a row,” he said.
