A fatal accident has occurred when a car and a train collided at an unguarded railway crossing in the Aravyal Nagar area of Kilinochchi. A 17-year-old resident girl who was travelling in the car died on the spot, while her brother and sister have been admitted to the Kilinochchi Hospital with serious injuries.
A train travelling from Mount Lavinia to Kankesanthurai met with this accident. The car that collided with the train was driven by the deceased girl's father. Her mother was also travelling in the car, but it is reported that neither of them was injured.
