The Disaster Management Center says that 23 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in 7 districts of the island have been affected by dry weather due to the El Nino effect.
Accordingly, the Disaster Management Center has stated that 81,865 people from 25,628 families have been affected by the El Nino situation. Due to this impact, the Disaster Management Center has also taken steps to distribute drinking water to 20 Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
Accordingly, the Center stated that steps have been taken to distribute drinking water to 72,153 people from 23,048 families.
Accordingly, the majority of drinking water has been distributed to the Monaragala District, where steps have been taken to distribute drinking water to 33,023 people from 10,264 families in 7 Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
Similarly, steps have been taken to distribute drinking water to 28,523 people from 9,547 families in 8 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Batticaloa District.
The Disaster Management Center stated that steps have also been taken to distribute more drinking water to 7,882 people from 2,537 affected families in 02 Divisional Secretariat Divisions of the Ampara District.
