Chamil Muthukuda, General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association, said that all Public Health Inspectors across the island have decided to go on a symbolic strike by reporting sick leave today (21).

All Public Health Inspectors of the Katunayake Airport Health Office withdrew from their dengue control duties yesterday in protest against the arbitrary transfer of the senior Public Health Inspector. He said that this sick leave will be implemented as a further step in the trade union movement. He stated that the trade union action will be taken in accordance with a decision taken by the working committee of the union that met the night before yesterday (19).

The Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association has also sent a letter to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media regarding this issue.
